After Your Sclerotherapy Treatment
-
After your Sclerotherapy you need to walk on a flat surface for 20 minutes.
-
Starting on the second day after your procedure you need to walk for 2 minutes 3 to 4 times a day for one week.
-
After your Sclerotherapy, the bandages and/or stocking must be worn (24/7) for 48 hours. Do not change the bandage or stokcing for 48 hours. After 48 hours, you will need to wear your compressive stockings during your waking hours for only for 3weeks.
-
During the first 48 hours you may bag your leg to shower. Please keep the bandages and/or stocking dry.
-
Take one 25mg Benadryl (an over-the counter medication) at bedtime the night of your procedure.
-
After the first week you may exercise daily, providing the bandages and/or stocking does not get wet.
-
Leg waxing and/or shaving may be performed only after a period of two weeks from your last treatment.
-
When your treatment is completely finished you should wear compressive stockings, especially if your occupation requires long periods of standing, walking and/or lifting.
-
You may return within 10 days after Sclerotherapy (at no charge) for the physician to check your legs.
-
You may have more veins treated (depending on your physician's advice and your insurance approval) in two weeks. You will need to check with your insurance company to verify your requirements.
-
Over the long-term, we recommend that you continue to wear compressive stocking as much as possible to prevent new varicose veins. Some insurance companies will approve 10 treatments a year with treatments 2 weeks apart. It is important for you to realize that after injection treatment of these veins, it is possible for them to recur.
